The African Palliative Care Association (APCA) has joined the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Global Alliance, becoming part of a network of over 400 members across 90+ countries united by a shared mission to improve survival rates for children with cancer and blood disorders worldwide. Membership required assessment by ALSAC, St. Jude's fundraising arm, and evidence of impact on paediatric cancer outcomes. St. Jude, a non-profit that never bills families, treats over 8,000 patients annually and has helped raise US paediatric cancer survival rates from 20% to 80% over the past 60 years, with over $100 million invested in global initiatives across seven regions since 2018. Through this alliance, APCA gains access to international networking, education, and resources, while contributing its pan-African expertise to the global network — reaffirming a shared commitment to ensuring children and adults with life-limiting illnesses receive dignified, compassionate, and quality care across Africa.
